The GNCA has received this update from the ACT Government.
In the accompanying email from Tim Norton, Project Manager, Infrastructure delivery, TCCS, it was noted that whilst the initial TCCS project had intentions of constructing a new playground before removing the old one, this is now no longer practical, and the retarding basin project will commence (possibly from October 2024) with removal of the existing playground and construction of the new playground as part of the overall construction program once the works are awarded. Due to the need to relocate/redesign the new playground from Block 33 Section 78 into a suitable location in Block 51 Section 78, TCCS will need to lodge a DA Amendment and it is expected there will be a public notification process as part of this submission. Thus, any leverage with time TCCS had with an approved DA (which we have for the original scope) is now gone.
Tim Norton has advised that TCCS will provide active communication to the GNCA on the retarding basin and playground relocation project once works are due to commence and apologized for inconveniences associated with upcoming work.
